Letters from a name your inbox has never seen before often go straight to the spam folder. The letter is written, it is sent, and it sits somewhere you never look. That happens to a good number of the readings I do, and I have no way of knowing when it happens.
Put me in your contacts and it stops happening.
Gmail. Open my letter, then tap or click my name at the top of it, and choose Add to contacts. If the letter landed under Promotions or Updates, drag it across to Primary. Gmail will ask whether to do that from now on. Say yes.
iPhone and Apple Mail. Open the letter, tap my name at the top, then Create New Contact.
Outlook and Hotmail. Right click my name in the letter and choose Add to Outlook Contacts. Or go to Settings, then Junk email, and put my address under Safe senders.
Yahoo. Open the letter, hover over my name, then Add to contacts.
And if my letter has already gone to the spam folder, open it there and mark it Not spam. That one click teaches your inbox more than anything else on this page.
